Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs HTC One M8 Camera Comparison: Megapixels vs Ultrapixels

By Rich W Woods

This will be the final camera comparison with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 before I send back the unit I’m reviewing. So far, I have compared the camera of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to the camera of the iPhone 6 Plus, OnePlus One, LG G3, Nokia Lumia 1020, and Sony Xperia Z3. The scope of this comparison will be the cameras of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the HTC One M8.

Both the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the HTC One M8 have great cameras, but in completely different ways. The camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a high resolution camera, coming in at 16 MP, while HTC takes the ultrapixel approach, working under the belief that a great picture can come from great software.

Sony Xperia Z3 vs HTC One M8 Camera Comparison: Megapixels and Ultrapixels

By Rich W Woods

Today, the Sony Xperia Z3v is being released for Verizon and on October 29, the Sony Xperia Z3 will be released for T-Mobile. Sony is widely renowned as one of the best handset manufacturers in the world. We don’t see a whole lot of them here in the United States because they rarely show up with any carriers. The Xperia Z and Z1 were available with T-Mobile and the Xperia Z2 tablet was available with Verizon, but that’s it. This time will be different.

It only makes sense to compare the Sony Xperia Z3 to competing handsets. So far, we’ve compared the Sony Xperia Z3 to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the OnePlus One, and we’ve compared the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact to the iPhone 6. The scope of this review will be to compare the Sony Xperia Z3 to the HTC One M8.

HTC Announces a Remarkable Little Camera that they call Re

By Rich W Woods

HTC had a whole bunch of announcements for us today at their Double Exposure event. They announced the Eye Experience, a new photo software suite for HTC phones, the HTC Desire Eye, a smart phone with a 13 MP rear camera and a 13 MP front camera with a flash, and Zoe for Android and iOS.

They also announced Re, a camera that is to compete with GoPro. They explained that the extreme sports problem is already solved, but no one wants to go around in life with a GoPro strapped to them.

HTC Announces the Desire Eye

By Rich W Woods

Before the HTC Desire 820 even hits the market, they trump their own product with the HTC Desire Eye. The HTC Desire 820 was poised to be the first 64 bit Android smart phone and would also be the first smart phone to have an 8 MP front facing camera.

Enter the HTC Desire Eye. The HTC Desire Eye will have a 5.2″ full HD display, a 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 13 MP rear camera, and 13 MP front camera. It will also be the first phone to have a flash on the front facing camera.

Nokia Lumia 530 vs HTC One M8 Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

On Sunday, Microsoft finally released the Nokia Lumia 530 to the American public after being available internationally for a few weeks. The Nokia Lumia 530 is the successor to the Nokia Lumia 520, the best selling Windows Phone in the history of the platform.

The Nokia Lumia 530 is a phone that is designed to scrape the bottom of the barrel, but that is ok. It only costs $69. It uses a 5 MP camera, so it is only fair to compare it to competing cameras across the board. I thought it would be fair to start with the HTC One M8, since the HTC One M8 uses a 4.3 MP rear camera.

I’ve already compared the Nokia Lumia 530 to the Nokia Lumia 635, which is the phone that really should be considered the successor to the Nokia Lumia 520.

OnePlus One vs HTC One M8: Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Over the last two weeks, I have been spending a lot of time with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the Moto X to review them. In that effort, I compared the camera of the Moto X to the Nokia Lumia 1020, HTC One M8, OnePlus One, and iPhone 6. I compared the iPhone 6 to the Nokia Lumia 1020, HTC One M8, iPhone 5S, OnePlus One, and the Moto X.

Throughout these comparisons, I have received numerous requests for comparisons between the HTC One M8, Nokia Lumia 1020, and OnePlus One. The scope of this review will be to compare the OnePlus One and the HTC One M8.

Moto X vs HTC One M8: Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

The Moto X is poised to be the best Android phone released this year, so we thought it would be fair to compare it to other flagship phones across the board. We’ve already done the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Nokia Lumia 1020, and OnePlus One. Now it’s time for the HTC One M8.

Both the Moto X and the HTC One M8 use Snapdragon 801 processors, although the HTC One M8 is 2.3 GHz and the Moto X is 2.5 GHz. Certainly not a noticeable difference. they both use 2 GB RAM, but there is a solid difference between the two cameras.

HTC One M8 vs iPhone 6 Plus: Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

The iPhone 6 Plus has a really interesting camera. It uses an 8 MP rear facing camera with optical image stabilization and a 1.2 MP front facing camera. The iPhone 6 uses the same camera but without the optical image stabilization.

You hear phrases thrown around like “megapixels don’t mean anything” or you hear just the opposite. The truth is, there are just as many myths on what makes a good camera as there are on how to preserve the battery in your phone.

When I wrote the camera review of the iPhone 6 Plus, I promised to compare it to the OnePlus One, HTC One M8, Nokia Lumia 1020, Moto X, iPhone 5S, and iPhone 6. So far, I have only compared the iPhone 6 Plus to the OnePlus One. The OnePlus One has a higher resolution camera than the iPhone 6 Plus has, so this will be the opposite end of the spectrum.

Welcome to the camera comparison of the iPhone 6 Plus and the HTC One M8.

HTC Announces Mysterious Event

By Rich W Woods

HTC has sent out invitations for an event on October 8, 2014. The event is called “Double Exposure”.

It has long been rumored that HTC has been working alongside Google on a Nexus 9 device, but the company brand is the last thing that is important on a Nexus. No one thinks of a Nexus 7 as an Asus device, a Nexus 5 as an LG device, or a Nexus 10 as a Samsung device. Those are Google devices.

OnePlus One vs HTC One M8: Front Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Many people don’t realize this, but all smart phones have a low resolution front facing camera. The iPhone 5S and Nokia Lumia 1020/930/1520 have 1.2 MP front cameras. Some have around 2 MP and the new Samsung Note 4 has a 3.7 MP front camera.

There are two phones, however, that have 5 MP front facing cameras. There is a big difference between a low resolution front facing camera and a 5 MP photo taken with a OnePlus One or an HTC One M8.

So which on has the best selfie camera? Let’s find out:
