Windows Phone Spotted with Windows Branding

By Rich W Woods

It would appear that the upcoming GoFone GF47W phone will be the first Windows phone to drop the Windows Phone branding. It is likely that this phone will ship with Windows Phone Threshold since it will be called Windows.

Windows Phone is not just a brand, it is the actual name of the operating system. Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 are already here, so expect the next version to just be called Windows.

Nokia Lumia 930 Dethrones Nokia Lumia 1020 for Best Camera

By Rich W Woods

I always found the Windows Phone 8 platform to be exciting. iPhones work great, but you can upgrade your iPhone every year when a new one is introduced and never actually feel like you got a new phone. That’s what Windows Phone 8 feels like. New.

From June 2013 through April 2014, my personal phone was a Nokia Lumia 920 and then a Nokia Lumia 1020. Although the photos produced by the Nokia Lumia 1020 are stunning at 41 MP, the phones were slow and frustrating to use. The flagships used Snapdragon S4 processors, the high end processors from a generation and a half ago.

The operating system was nice, until I picked up my iPad or Nexus 7 and realized what a beautiful OS should look like.

64 Bit Chrome Finally Available for Windows and You Should Get it Now

By Rich W Woods

Google Chrome for Windows is finally available in a 64 bit variant after being available on their Canary and Developer channels. It makes sense that they have always been 32 bit. After all, all Android phones and most Chromebooks are 32 bit, but it really is a big deal, more so than you may think.

HTC One M8: Windows Phone vs Sense vs Google Play: Front Camera

By Rich W Woods

One thing you may or may not know about the HTC One M8 is that it has a 5 MP front facing camera. That may not seem like a lot compared to the rear facing cameras on Nokia’s Lumia line that get up to 41 MP or Samsung’s 13 MP or even Apple’s 8 MP rear camera.

What you may not realize is that most phones have an extremely low resolution front facing camera. Nokia and Apple use a 1.2 MP front facing camera. Amazon uses a 2.1 MP front facing camera. It is amazing that no one seems to be focusing on the front facing camera of the HTC One M8.

Don’t Believe Everything You Hear about the Nokia Lumia 830

By Rich W Woods

The original story about the Nokia Lumia 830 was that it was going to be a mid-range phone with a high end camera. My immediate thought was that is the Nokia Lumia 1020, but I suppose they are working on Windows Phone 8.1 models now.

HTC One M8: Windows Phone vs Sense vs Google Play: OS

By Rich W Woods

If there is anyone in the world that can be considered to be completely unbiased when it comes to operating systems, it’s me. The smart phones that I’ve owned for personal use are (in order) iPhone 3GS, Samsung Captivate, iPhone 4S, Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia Lumia 1020, and HTC One M8. My tablets have included iPad 2, iPad Mini with Retina, iPad Air, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 7 (2013), Dell Venue 8 Pro, Surface RT, Surface Pro, and Surface Pro 3. My current laptops include the 2013 MacBook Air and the Acer Aspire S7. I am not an Android guy, an iPhone guy, or a Windows guy. I own every current operating system. This is my resume for impartiality.

HTC One M8: Sense vs Windows Phone vs Google Play: Rear Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

Yes, I know. I did this already. The problem is, last time I compared the cameras I just said why someone purchasing an HTC One M8 should not purchase the Google Play Edition rather than actually including it in the comparison.

Microsoft is Making a Dongle and it is a Bigger Deal than Chromecast

By Rich W Woods

We in the tech industry love our dongles. Personally, I prefer a set top box over an HDMI dongle because using a wired connection is so much faster; however, low cost devices such as Chromecast and the Roku Streaming Stick are changing the way we watch TV.

HTC One M8 vs HTC One M8 for Windows: Camera Comparison

By Rich W Woods

While the HTC One M8 for Windows is the first device in history to ship with an option of which operating system to use, there is a third variant out there. The three versions of the HTC One M8 are the HTC Sense version, the Google Play edition, and now the Windows Phone version. Going to prove that theory wrong.

If there is one thing I know about Windows Phone users, it’s that we love our cameras. The Nokia Lumia 930, 1020, 1520, and Icon are the only phones that support RAW photos. Many have criticized the HTC One M8 for having a 4.3 MP camera, but I’

HTC has just made a landmark product. The HTC One M8 for Windows is the first time in the history of all computers that the same device is sold but the customer has a choice of which operating system is installed when they purchase it.

HTC Apps on Android

HTC makes great apps on Android. Zoe is an app that allows you to take photos and make a story out of them and share them with friends. Dot View allows users to change settings on the Dot View case.

There are tons more: FootballFeed, Power to Give, Fetch, HTC Guide, HTC Transfer Tool, HTC Sense TV, HTC Gallery, HTC Sense Input, HTC Service Pack, HTC Blinkfeed, HTC Backup for HTC One, and more.
